Archive for Barn

Fred Waits

Phase 1 of site preparation was by the groundbreaking day for the NEW ANIMAL BARN while we were still in early spring. Fred McCarthy, President of Friends of Brooksvale Park, Inc. was there each day keeping everyone on track with gentle prodding and encouragement.

Phase 2 – The concrete work on the foundation for the barn and the manure shed is now done taking most of the latter part of May. Fred tirelessly went to the park each day to oversee, supervise and make sure the money YOU donated to the New Animal Barn is being spent in the best way possible.

FOB member and Legislative Council member Al Gorman,, town engineers Elliot Fuller and Vince Conte and Park Maintainer Ed Colavolpe and other PW staff have also contributed countless hours in the past month or more to bring the project through these two initial phases. If you cross paths with these guys, please say thanks.

Phase 3 – The actual construction of the barn will take place as soon as American Country Barns has the parts all ready for delivery. Actual time to put it up is about 7 days I’m told. I will keep you posted.

Great News!

Just wanted to let you know that the Friends of Brooksvale Park has received the exciting news they were awarded a matching grant of $45,000 toward the NEW Animal Barn and received the check last week! They want to thank the New England Family Foundation who generously challenged them to Raise the Roof. Each and everyone of you who gave of your time and finances to raise the initial $45,000 can give yourselves a pat on the back. Well done!

You are welcome to continue donating to Raise the Roof as there are always a few unexpected expenses and it would be nice to replace some aging items used in the care of the animals.
